The Council is expected to discuss the situation in the Central African Republic (CAR) in consultations in early December. Members will likely have in mind the UN Mission in the CAR and Chad (MINURCAT) and the EU protection force.

No formal Council action on the Central African Republic (CAR) in October is expected at press time. Given the potential for further regional instability, however, Council members may see a need for a statement. The Secretary-General's report is expected in October, but discussions may carry on into November depending on when it is issued.

The Council is scheduled on 7 July to discuss the findings the Secretary-General's report on the situation in the Central African Republic (CAR) and the United Nations Peacebuilding Support Office in the Central African Republic (BONUCA). The Council will likely be briefed by Lamine Cissé, Special Representative of the Secretary-General to CAR.

The Security Council will consider the report of the Secretary-General on the Central African Republic (CAR), due by 31 October 2005.
