On 16 February the Council adopted a presidential statement on the situation in Guinea, in which itwelcomed “the recent positive developments in Guinea while remaining concerned by the situation”.

On 12 January Council members are expected to discuss Guinea, during previously scheduled consultations on the work of the UN Office for West Africa (UNOWA). The report on the situation in Guinea, of the International Commission of Inquiry (COI) which investigated the 28 September 2009 government forces crackdown on pro-democracy demonstrators in Guinea, is before the Council.
