The briefing may be provided by Hervé Ladsous, Head of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, or Hilde Johnson, Head of UNMISS, or possibly both.

In October, the Council is likely to review the force levels of the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) to ascertain whether conditions in South Sudan could permit a reduction of the mandated level of military personnel from up to 7,000 to 6,000.
