    In February, the chair of the 1591 Sudan Sanctions Committee, Ambassador Rafael Ramírez of Venezuela, is expected to provide the quarterly briefing on the Committee’s work to Council members in consultations.     In December, the Council will receive a briefing by Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Hervé Ladsous, on the quarterly report on the AU/UN Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID). ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda is also expected to provide the semi-annual briefing on the Court’s work in Darfur. At press time, no Council outcome regarding Darfur was anticipated in December. UNAMID’s mandate expires on 30 June 2015.

    In May, Ambassador María Cristina Perceval (Argentina), chair of the 1591 Sudan Sanctions Committee, is expected to provide in consultations the quarterly briefing on the work of the Committee. At press time, the Council was negotiating a press statement condemning the recent upsurge in violence in Darfur, although it remained unclear if and when consensus might be reached. The mandate of the Panel of Experts assisting the Committee expires on 13 March 2015, while the mandate of the AU/UN Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) expires on 31 August.
