    The Security Council on 17 June 2011 adopted resolution 1988 related to the 1267 Committee on Taliban and al Qaeda sanctions. Resolution 1988 proceeds from a recognition that the security situation in Afghanistan has evolved. It now establishes a separate list for Taliban individuals and entities subject to sanctions and it also establishes a new Afghanistan. Read more

    The Council is expected in December to renew the mandate of CTED, the Secretariat body which assists the Council’s Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC).
