26 March 2020 SC/14147 This was a press statement in which Council members condemned a terrorist attack that took place at a Sikh-Hindu temple in Kabul on 25 March 2020.
21 October 2019 SC/13992 This was a press statement condemning in the strongest terms a terrorist attack on 18 October in the Haska Mena district in Nangarhar Province.
2 October 2019 SC/13969 The Council members issued a press statement on the 28 September presidential elections.
19 September 2019 SC/13957 This was a press statement condemning in the strongest terms the “continuing high number of attacks” in Afghanistan. Those attacks included several claimed by the Taliban: in Qalat, Zabul Province, on 19 September, resulting in at least 20 people killed and more than 95 people injured; in Kabul; and in Charikar, Parwan Province, on 17 September, resulting in at least 38 civilians killed and more than 80 civilians injured.
20 August 2019 SC/13921 This condemned a 17 August terrorist attack in Kabul on a wedding hall, resulting in at least 70 civilians dead and at least 180 injured, claimed by the Islamic State Khorasan Province; it further condemned the 19 August attacks in Jalalabad, the day of Afghanistan’s centennial independence celebrations.
1 August 2019 SC/13906 This condemned several terrorist attacks: one on 31 July on a bus on the Kandahar-Herat Highway, resulting in at least 34 people dead and at least 12 injured, and others that took place on 25 July in Kabul, Takhar and Nangarhar provinces and on 29 July in Kabul.
3 July 2019 SC/13872 Council members issued a press statement condemning in the strongest terms a terrorist attack claimed by the Taliban on 1 July in Kabul that resulted in the death of at least 35 people and more than 70 injured.
15 April 2019 SC/13781 This was a press statement condemning the announcement by the Taliban of a spring offensive, underscoring that calls for more fighting will not contribute to making a sustainable peace, and calling on all conflict parties to seize the opportunity to begin an inclusive intra-Afghan dialogue and negotiations that result in a political settlement.
3 January 2019 SC/13655 Council members issued a press statement condemning the terrorist attack in northern Sar-e-Pul Province and Balkh Province on 31 December 2018, targeted at the Afghan National Defence and Security Forces, resulting in at least 27 security forces killed and 20 injured.
10 December 2018 SC/13612 Council members welcomed the outcome of the Geneva Conference on Afghanistan on 27-28 November, co-hosted by the Government of Afghanistan and the United Nations, which renewed the partnership and cooperation of the Government of Afghanistan and the international community for Afghanistan’s peace, prosperity and self-reliance midway through the Transformation Decade (2015-2024).
20 November 2018 SC/13596 Council members issued a press statement condemning in the strongest terms the 5 September terrorist attack in Kabul claimed by ISIL and the 11 September attack in Nangarhar, resulting in at least 61 people killed and numerous wounded.
23 October 2018 SC/13551 Council members issued a press statement welcoming the holding of the elections while noting the difficult security environment and that voting in Kandahar, which was postponed, needs to still take place.
18 October 2018 SC/13545 Security Council members issued a press statement condemning recent attacks and underscoring the importance of a secure environment for the elections.
11 September 2018 SC/13498 Council members issued a press statement condemning the 5 September terrorist attack in Kabul claimed by ISIL and the 11 September attack in Nangarhar.
27 August 2018 SC/13467 This was a press statement welcoming the announcement by the government of Afghanistan on 19 August of a second conditional ceasefire with the Taliban from the start of the Eid al-Adha holiday and urged the Taliban to reciprocate without delay.
