The fifth round of Geneva talks on Georgia is expected to take place.

Also expected in May:

  • The Council is expected to receive a briefing from the new High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
  • The chairs of the Counter-Terrorism Committee, the 1267 Committee, and the 1540 Committee are expected to brief the Council in a public debate.
  • The conclusions of a UN board of inquiry into damage to UN facilities and loss of life during the December-January conflict in Gaza may also be submitted to the Council during May.
  • The report by the Secretary-General on Protection of Civilians is expected.
  • Kurdistan National Assembly and Kurdistan Regional Government Presidency elections are expected to be held in Iraq.
  • A meeting of the International Contact Group for Piracy off the Coast of Somalia is expected in New York at the end of May.
