Humanitarian Situation in Somalia
This morning the Council is meeting in consultations to receive a briefing on the humanitarian situation in Somalia from John Ging, the director of coordination and response division of the Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). It is understood the UK requested the briefing. Most Council members have indicated their concern over the famine in Somalia and its impact on regional stability. It seems that the Council will issue a press statement on the situation following the briefing.
