27 August 2014 S/RES/2174 This was a resolution imposing sanctions on individuals and entities obstructing or undermining the successful completion of the political transition and tightening the arms embargo.
19 March 2014 S/RES/2146 This resolution imposed measures on vessels transporting crude oil that had been illicitly exported from Libya.
14 March 2014 S/RES/2144 This resolution extended the mandate of UNSMIL until 13 March 2015 and the mandate of the Panel assisting the 1970 Libya Sanctions Committee until 13 April 2015.
14 March 2013 S/RES/2095 This resolution extended UNSMIL's mandate by 12 months and the mandate of the Panel of Experts assisting the 1970 Libya Sanctions Committee for 13 months.
12 March 2012 S/RES/2040 This resolution extended the mandate of UNSMIL and the Panel of Experts by 12 months, with a requirement to review and adjust the mandate within six months.
2 December 2011 S/RES/2022 This resolution extended the mandate of UNSMIL until 16 March 2012 and asked UNSMIL to assist the Libyan authorities in addressing the threat of proliferation of arms, in particular MANPADS.
31 October 2011 S/RES/2017 This resolution discussed the non-proliferation of MANPADS; chemical weapons stockpiles and other small arms.
27 October 2011 S/RES/2016 This resolution lifted the no-fly zone and the provisions for the use of force for the protection of civilians.
16 September 2011 S/RES/2009 This resolution authorised the deployment of UNSMIL and partially lifted sanctions.
17 March 2011 S/RES/1973 This resolution was adopted with ten votes and five abstentions and authorised all necessary measures—excluding an occupation force—to protect civilians in Libya and enforce the arms embargo, imposed a no-fly zone, strengthened the sanctions regime, and established a panel of experts.
26 February 2011 S/RES/1970 This resolution referred the situation in Libya to the ICC, imposed an arms embargo and targeted sanctions (assets freeze and travel ban) and established a sanctions committee.
27 August 1998 S/RES/1192 This resolution suspended sanctions on Libya pending a report from the Secretary-General on the appearance of the two suspects in the Lockerbie bombing to stand trial in The Hague.
11 November 1993 S/RES/883 This resolution widened the travel ban imposed on Libyan individuals and imposed financial sanctions.
14 December 1955 S/RES/109 This resolution recommended Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Jordan, Lao People's Democratic Republic (Laos), Libyah Arab Jamahiriya (Libya), Nepal, Portugal, Romania, Spain and Sri Lanka (Ceylon) for UN membership.
