17 October 2005 S/RES/1631 This resolution addressed the issue of cooperation between the UN and regional organisations and stressed the role of regional organisations in addressing the issue of small arms.
14 September 2005 S/RES/1625 This was a declaration on the effectiveness of the Security Council's role in conflict prevention, reaffirming the need to adopt a broad strategy to conflict prevention, which addresses the root causes of armed conflict in a comprehensive manner, including by promoting sustainable development.
26 July 2005 S/RES/1612 This resolution set up the Council's Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict and highlighted the link between illicit trafficking in small arms and the use of child soldiers.
21 June 2005 S/RES/1607 This resolution renewed sanctions and the Panel's mandate until 21 December 2005.
18 April 2005 S/RES/1596 This resolution expanded the arms embargo and added travel bans and assets freeze to the sanctions regime.
29 March 2005 S/RES/1591 This resolution created a committee and panel of experts and additional individually targeting measures.
28 April 2004 S/RES/1540 This resolution established the 1540 Committee and its mandate, affirmed that proliferation of nuclear weapons as well as the means of delivery constitutes a threat to international peace and security.
22 May 2003 S/RES/1483 The Council recognised the occupying powers, requested the Secretary-General to appoint a Special Representative for Iraq, established sanctions against the previous Iraqi government, created the DFI and envisaged the termination of the oil-for-food programme within six months.
8 November 2002 S/RES/1441 This resolution decided that Iraq was in breach of its international obligations due to its lack of cooperation with UNMOVIC inspectors and decided to resume weapons inspections in Iraq and deplored the failure by Iraq to account for Kuwaiti and third-country nationals wrongfully detained.
31 July 2001 S/RES/1365 This resolution welcomed the continued contribution of UNIFIL to operational demining and stressed the necessity to provide the Government of Lebanon and UNIFIL with any additional maps and records on the location of mines.
19 April 2000 S/RES/1296 This was on "Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflict and " the Council emphasised the importance of incorporating DDR in peace agreements.
17 December 1999 S/RES/1284 This resolution established UNMOVIC and requested the Secretary-General to report to the Council every four months on the compliance by Iraq with its obligations regarding the repatriation or return of all Kuwaiti and third-country nationals.
15 October 1999 S/RES/1267 This resolution established the Al-Qaida and Taliban Committee and its sanctions mandate.
16 September 1998 S/RES/1196 This resolution urged members, relevant UN bodies and agencies and other international agencies to facilitate implementation of arms embargoes.
12 June 1998 S/RES/1173 This resolution prohibited the direct or indirect import from Angola of all diamonds that were not controlled through the certificate of origin regime.
