17 August 2021 S/PRST/2021/16 This presidential statement addressed security trends in the region and expressed concern about deteriorating situations in some countries.
3 February 2021 S/PRST/2021/3 This presidential statement requested the Secretary-General to explore the feasibility of a civilian joint project between UNOWAS and regional organizations, such as the G5, ECOWAS and the African Union, with the aim of stemming and preventing intercommunal violence.

10 August 2018 S/PRST/2018/16 The Council welcomed collective efforts to recalibrate the UN's Sahel strategy to expedite its impact and encouraged greater coherence of the UN system and partners through implementation of the UN Support Plan for the Sahel.

21 December 2016 S/PRST/2016/19 This statement welcomed the decisions made at the 17 December 2016 ECOWAS summit related to The Gambia.
28 July 2016 S/PRST/2016/11 This was a presidential statement reflecting the range of issues discussed during the meeting on UNOWAS.
26 April 2016 S/PRST/2016/4 This was a presidential statement which encouraged regional states, regional organisations and international partners to make fully operational the Gulf of Guinea counter-piracy mechanisms as soon as possible.
8 December 2015 S/PRST/2015/24 This was a presidential statement on the Sahel that covered the broad array of challenges facing the region, including terrorism and underlying socio-economic problems. It also encouraged close coordination between the Secretary-General's Special Envoy for the Sahel and the Secretary-General's Special Representatives for West and Central Africa.
27 August 2014 S/PRST/2014/17 This was a presidential statement on the Sahel encouraging greater cooperation among stakeholders to implement the UN's Sahel strategy and with the Office of the Special Envoy.
18 December 2013 S/PRST/2013/22 This presidential statement highlighted the impact of drug trafficking in undermining governance in West African countries, as well as the involvement of terrorist groups to finance their activities.
