Important matters awaited include:

  • Procedures for listing individuals for targeted sanctions remain to be addressed following the request from the World Summit in September 2005 for “fair and clear procedures”.  A report from the UN’s Office of Legal Affairs is awaited.
  • On the Ugandan rebel group Lord’s Resistance Army, the report requested in resolution 1653 on “how best to support efforts by states in the region to put an end” to such groups is still outstanding despite the deadline of 24 April established in resolution 1663.
  • On Timor-Leste, the report requested by the Council in September 2005 on proposals for addressing cases of serious crimes committed in Timor-Leste is not yet forthcoming.
  • On Côte d’Ivoire, the 2005 report by the Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the December 2004 report by the Secretary-General on human rights violations, requested by the Council, have not been made public yet.
