December 2010

The UN Mission in Chad and the Central African Republic (MINURCAT) completed its withdrawal and the handover of its programmes to the government of Chad and UN agencies on 31 December. The Chadian integrated security force, the Détachement Intégré de Sécurité (DIS), has since taken over protection of civilians and security responsibilities. On 14 December the Council heard its final briefing from the head of MINURCAT.

October 2010

MINURCAT ceased all military operations on 15 October and began the final phase of its withdrawal. On 20 October the Special Representative and head of MINURCAT briefed the Council on the situation in Chad, CAR and the subregion. He also presented the Secretary-General’s most recent report on progress in the mission’s withdrawal.

August 2010

On 10 August the Special Representative to the Secretary-General and Head of MINURCAT gave his first briefing to the Council on the situation in Chad and CAR since the adoption of resolution 1923, which authorised MINURCAT’s drawdown. Closed consultations followed the briefing.
