    The Council is expecting to receive the semi-annual report on BINUCA in June. At press it was unclear whether they would consider the Secretary-General's report on CAR in June. It seemed possible that it might be deferred to July.

    In early December, the Council expects to receive the Secretary-General’s report on the UN Integrated Peace-building Office in the Central African Republic (BINUCA). The Secretary-General’s Special Representative Sahle-Work Zewde is likely to brief the Council. The Council seems ready to renew BINUCA’s mandate, which expires on 31 December 2010, without major changes.

    In late June the Council expects to receive the Secretary-General’s first report since the reconfiguration of the mission in the Central African Republic (CAR). The Special Representative, Sahle-Work Zewde, is also expected to brief the Council.

    On 15 December the Council is expected to consider the Secretary-General’s report on the Central African Republic (CAR). The mandate of the UN Peacebuilding Support Office in CAR (BONUCA) expires on 31 December, and it is to be succeeded on 1 January 2010 by a UN Integrated Peacebuilding Office in the Central African Republic (BINUCA).

    In June the Council is expected to consider the next report of the Secretary-General on the Central African Republic (CAR). The mandate of the UN Peacebuilding Support Office (BONUCA) expires on 31 December.

  • The Council is expected to issue a presidential statement in the coming days endorsing the Secretary-General’s proposal to transform the UN Peacebuilding Office in the Central African Republic (BONUCA) into an integrated UN presence in Central African Republic (CAR). The mandate of BONUCA expires on 31 December.

    The Council is expected to discuss the situation in the Central African Republic (CAR) in December and renew the mandate of the UN Peacebuilding Office in the Central African Republic (BONUCA) by 31 December. Depending on the recommendations from the Secretary-General, whose report was expected by 30 November, the Council could agree to BONUCA becoming an integrated mission to coordinate the multidimensional aspects of the UN’s activities to confront peacebuilding challenges in the country.

    The Council is expected to discuss the situation in the Central African Republic (CAR) in consultations in early December. Members will likely have in mind the UN Mission in the CAR and Chad (MINURCAT) and the EU protection force.

    No formal Council action on the Central African Republic (CAR) in October is expected at press time. Given the potential for further regional instability, however, Council members may see a need for a statement. The Secretary-General's report is expected in October, but discussions may carry on into November depending on when it is issued.

  • The Council is scheduled on 7 July to discuss the findings the Secretary-General's report on the situation in the Central African Republic (CAR) and the United Nations Peacebuilding Support Office in the Central African Republic (BONUCA). The Council will likely be briefed by Lamine Cissé, Special Representative of the Secretary-General to CAR.
