Security Council Resolutions
  • S/RES/1580  (22 December 2004) revised and extended the mandate of the UN Peacebuilding Support Office in Guinea-Bissau (UNOGBIS).
  • S/RES/1233  (6 April 1999) supported the decision of the Secretary-General to establish the UN Peacebuilding Support Office in Guinea-Bissau.
  • S/RES/1216  (21 December 1998) requested that the Secretary-General make recommendations for a possible role for the UN in Guinea-Bissau's peace and reconciliation process.

  • S/2008/395 (23 June 2008) was a report of the Secretary-General on Guinea Bissau.
  • S/2008/181 (17 March 2008) was a report of the Secretary-General on Guinea Bissau.
  • S/2007/744 (11 December 2007) was the letter in which the Council requested information from the PBC on the situation in Guinea-Bissau.
  • S/2007/715 (6 December 2007) was the latest report on UNOGBIS.  
  • S/2007/700 (28 November 2007) was the Secretary-General's request to extend the mandate of United Nations Peacebuilding Support Office in Guinea-Bissau (UNOGBIS) until 31 December 2008.  
  • S/2007/576 (28 September 2007) was a report of the Secretary-General.
  • S/2007/401 (3 July 2007) was a report of the Secretary-General.
  • S/2007/158 (20 March 2007) was a report on the United Nations Peacebuilding Support Office in Guinea-Bissau (UNOGBIS).

  • S/2006/790 (2 October 2006) was the letter informing the Council that Shola Omoregie would be the new representative.

Presidential Statements

  • S/PRST/2007/38 (19 October 2007) reaffirmed its support for efforts to consolidate peace in Guinea-Bissau, expressed concern about drug trafficking in the country and stated that it would consider Guinea-Bissau's request for inclusion on the Peacebuilding Commission's agenda.
  • S/PRST/2005/39  (19 August 2005) acknowledged the successful presidential elections.
  • S/PRST/2005/14  (31 March 2005) acknowledged progress made in Guinea-Bissau, including in the electoral process.
  • S/PRST/2004/41  (2 November 2004) expressed deep concern at the developments that led to the killings of two military officials.
  • S/PRST/2004/20  (18 June 2004) expressed satisfaction regarding progress made towards restoring constitutional order.

  • PBC/2/INF/1 (13 February 2008) indicated the membership of the PBC Organizational Committee and membership of the country-specific configurations.
  • PBC/2/OC/9 (1 February 2008) was the letter from the Chairperson of the PBC listing the UN members states, organisations and entities constituting the latter configuration.
  • A/62/686 - S/2008/87 (28 December 2007) was the letter from the Chairperson of the PBC informing the President of the Security Council about the placement of Guinea-Bissau on the Commission’s agenda and taking note of the Council’s request for advice on the situation in the country.

  • S/PV.5860 (26 March 2008) was a briefing on developments and PBC activities in Guinea-Bissau.

  • SC/9374 (25 June 2008) was a press statement which “welcomed progress on the preparations for the legislative elections scheduled for 16 November (and) applauded the recent steps taken by the Government to bring drug traffickers to justice.”

  • SC/9198 (12 December 2007) was a press statement by the Council on Guinea-Bissau.
  • S/2007/701 (3 December 2007) was the letter in which the Council agree to the Secretary-General's request to extend the mandate of the UN Peacebuilding Support Office in Guinea-Bissau (UNOGBIS) until 31 December 2008.
  • SC/9075  (10 July 2007) was the press statement welcoming the formation of a new government, but expressing concern over the tense social climate, an alarming increase in crime and the deteriorating socio-economic and financial situation.
