Selected Security Council Resolutions
  • S/RES/1812 (30 April 2008) requested a report on LRA issues from the Secretariat.
  • S/RES/1663 (24 March 2006) specified that the 1653 report should include recommendations on dealing with the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and be issued by 24 April.
  • S/RES/1653 (27 January 2006) requested the Secretary-General's recommendations on how best to support the efforts of states in the Great Lakes region to put an end to the activities of illegal armed groups.
  • S/RES/1625 (14 September 2005) addressed conflict prevention, particularly in Africa.
  • S/RES/1539 (22 April 2004) and 1265 (17 September 2005) expressed willingness to take measures to protect children and civilians in armed conflict.
  • S/RES/1445 (4 December 2002) welcomed the signing of peace agreements with Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)'s neighbours and further expanded UN Mission in the Congo (MONUC) with a new concept of operations.

Selected Secretary-General's Report
  • A/63/323 (22 August 2008) was the annual report of the International Criminal Court.
  • S/2006/478 (29 June 2006) was a report on the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA).
Selected Letters
  • S/2008/684 (3 November 2008) was a letter from the Secretary-General to the Security Council advising of the appointment of a Special Envoy for eastern DRC who would work in close coordination with Chissano.
  • S/2008/414 (24 June 2008) was a report and recommendations of Lt. General Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, Chief Mediator of the peace process between the Government of the Republic of Uganda and the LRA.
  • S/2008/409 (23 June 2008) was a report on children and armed conflict in Uganda.
  • S/2007/720 (6 December 2007) extended the mandate of the office of Joaquim Chissano, Special Envoy of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) affected areas, until 31 December 2008. 
  • S/2007/719 (21 November 2007) was the Secretary-General's request to the Council to extend the mandate of the office of Joaquim Chissano, Special Envoy of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) affected areas, until 31 December 2008. 
  • S/2006/944 (6 December 2006) contained the addendum to the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement. 
  • S/2006/930 (1 December 2006) was a Secretary-General's letter informing the Council of Joaquim Chissano's appointment and mandate as Special Envoy for the Lord's Resistance Army-affected areas.
  • S/2006/861 (3 November 2006) and 944 (6 December 2006) contained the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement between Uganda and the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and its addendum.
  • S/2006/274 (2 May 2006) was the Congolese letter on recent Ugandan incursions.
  • S/2006/271 (28 April 2006) detailed the Ugandan proposals vis-à-vis the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA).
  • S/2006/29 (19 January 2006) contained Kampala's position on the situation in Northern Uganda.
  • S/2006/27 (19 January 2006) was a Tanzanian concept paper addressing peace, security and development in the Great Lakes region.
  • S/2006/13 (5 January 2006) was the letter from the Permanent Representative of Canada to the President of the Security Council, requesting that the situation in northern Uganda be placed on the Council's agenda for immediate consideration.
  • S/2005/785 (13 December 2005) was the letter from Uganda to the Council on the situation of internally displaced persons in northern Uganda.
  • S/2005/667 (25 October 2005) contained a letter from the Joint Commission, which met in Kampala, Uganda, with recommendations to the Council regarding the renewal and adaptation of UN Mission in the Congo (MONUC)'s mandate.
  • S/2004/573 (16 July 2004) was a special report on the Ituri conflict.
  • S/2002/341 (5 April 2002) was an assessment of armed groups operative in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), including the Ugandan Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).
  • S/1999/815 (23 July 1999) contained the Lusaka Ceasefire Agreement.
Selected Presidential Statements
  • S/PRST/2008/38 (21 October 2008) strongly condemned the recent attacks by the LRA in eastern DRC and recalls the ICC indictments against members of the LRA leadership.
  • S/PRST/2007/6 (22 March 2007) welcomed the efforts of Special Envoy Joaquim Chissano and emphasised support for a negotiated settlement to the conflict. 
  • S/PRST/2006/45 (16 November 2006) welcomed the efforts to solve the conflict in northern Uganda and indicated the Council's intention to monitor developments closely.
  • S/PRST/2005/46 (4 October 2005) called upon all armed groups in the Great Lakes Region of Africa to lay down their arms and join the processes of political transition under way in the region.
Security Council Debates
  • S/PV.5525 (15 September 2006) was a briefing from Under Secretary-General Jan Egeland on the humanitarian situation in northern Uganda.
  • S/PV.5415 (19 April 2006) contained a Ugandan briefing regarding the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA).
  • S/PV.5359 and Resumption 1 (27 January 2006) addressed peace, security and development issues in the Great Lakes region.
  • S/PV.5331 (19 December 2005) was Under Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Jan Egeland's briefing of the Council on the situation in northern Uganda.
Other
  • SC/9167 (13 November 2007) was the press statement, which noted that the Council’s members were encouraged by the progress made so far in the Juba peace process, reaffirmed their support for a negotiated settlement and expressed hope for an early conclusion to the peace process.
  • A/63/346/Add.1 (22 September 2008) was the proposed resource requirements for the special political mission in 2009.
  • A/63/323 (22 August 2008) was the report of the ICC.
