Selected Security Council Resolutions
  • S/RES/1780 (15 October 2007) extended the mandate of MINUSTAH for a year.
  • S/RES/1743  (15 February 2007) renewed MINUSTAH until 15 October.
  • S/RES/1702 (15 August 2006) prolonged the mandate of MINUSTAH for six months with the intention to renew for further periods.
  • S/RES/1658 (14 February 2006) renewed the mandate of MINUSTAH until 15 August.
  • S/RES/1608 (22 June 2005) extended the mandate of MINUSTAH until 15 February 2006 and temporarily reinforced the mission.
  • S/RES/1601 (31 May 2005) extended the mandate of MINUSTAH until 24 June.
  • S/RES/1576  (29 November 2004) extended the mandate of MINUSTAH.
  • S/RES/1542 (30 April 2004) established MINUSTAH.

Selected Presidential Statements
  • S/PRST/2006/22 (15 May 2006) congratulated René Préval on his inauguration as president of Haiti and underlined that many challenges remain to be tackled.
  • S/PRST/2006/13 (27 March 2006) urged the Haitian government to ensure that elections will proceed and expressed willingness to cooperate with the newly elected authorities.
  • S/PRST/2006/7 (9 February 2006) commended Haiti for holding elections.
  • S/PRST/2006/1 (6 January 2006) expressed concern over the more recent postponement of elections and urged the government to schedule new dates.
  • S/PRST/2005/50 (18 October 2005) pressured Haiti's administration to hold elections.
  • S/PRST/2005/1 (12 January 2005) called for elections to be held in 2005 and signalled the Council's intention to send a mission to Haiti.

  • S/2007/466 (26 July 2007) and S/2007/467 (30 July 2007) was an exchange of letters between the Secretary-General and the Council on the appointment of Hédi Annabi as Special Representative in Haiti.
  • S/2007/11 (8 January 2007) and S/2007/12 (10 January 2007) were letters confirming the appointment of Major General dos Santos Cruz as Force Commander of MINUSTAH.
  • S/2006/726 (31 August 2006) was a letter from the Secretary-General conveying a letter from Haiti confirming the adoption of the police reform plan and enclosing a copy of the plan.

  • S/2005/302 (6 May 2005) stressed that there was no alternative to elections.

  • SC/9293 (8 April 2008) was a press statement welcoming progress while deploring recent violence and attacks against MINUSTAH. It also expressed concern at the humanitarian situation and encouraged international donors to provide emergency relief.
