The Board of Security Council Report decided in September 2005 to establish an International Advisory Group to:

Provide structured feedback to SCR on the effectiveness and relevance of SCR products and recommendations for improvement;
-
Assist SCR to build relationships and linkages and facilitate high level access and contacts;

Provide ad hoc advice, on an individual or collective basis, related to specific issues or situations within the expertise of the member or members concerned; and
-
To advocate on behalf of SCR, in support of its mission and vision, and draw attention of decision makers and potential future donors to its work and products.
