UPDATES

3 December 2008: TerrorismReport in Word Format and PDF Format: As Council president in December (and also Chair of the Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee), Croatia will convene a high level open debate on 9 December on “Global Security and International Terrorism”.  Croatia hopes the debate will encourage thinking on a multidimensional approach to address the key issues which continue to foster terrorism; confirm unity in the fight against terrorism under the umbrella of the UN; promote coherence of the UN’s efforts at both the General Assembly and Security Council levels; and help disassociate terrorism from any nation, religion or belief, civilisation or culture.  Croatia’s president Stjepan Mesić is expected to preside, and other leaders have been invited to participate.
